History
Christian Brotherhood Academy began in the heart of its founder, Rev. Ivory Crittendon. More than forty five years ago, when as a young man, barley twenty years old, he adopted his first two of more than one hundred seriously at-risk young kids. Over the years, Rev. Crittendon has seen the joy of the majority of these kids growing up to lead successful, productive and often Christian lives. But, he has also experienced the deep loss of fourteen of these kids to violence, including one of his personal children.
As the Rev. Crittendon opened and operated two previous enterprises, he kept both the joy and the pain of these experiences in his thinking mind. The first of these two enterprises, Ivory’s Auto Body Shop, which ran for more than thirty years, became a safe place for troubled Hilltop teens to assemble and receive help, advice and unconditional love. The second, Brotherhood Church of God, was where he realized that these children needed more than just time with caring Christian adults, he saw that they needed nurturing in an educational atmosphere. Thus, beginning with just six students, Christian Brotherhood Academy was born.
The rest is history, now in a twelve room facility with a library, state-of-the-art kitchen, gymnasium and room for more than 150 students, the new CBA opened its doors in September 2000. With enrollment nearing 100, the school has become a beacon of hope in the entire community.
